Senior Electronic Development Engineer

About the Role | Who are we looking for?

Due to our increasing success and growth, we’re growing our team of enthusiastic experts. We are recruiting a Senior Electronic Development Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will join our hardware development team working on our Juggler Pixel Processor product.

  • As a Senior Electronic Development Engineer, you will take the lead on oversight for hardware projects, working closely with external suppliers. You will lead the capture of requirements for new PCB designs.
  • Project manage the outsourced work, working closely with Product Management and other technical members of the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring 7thSense developed products are designed with certification requirements in mind from the outset.
  • Supporting the process of gaining certification for 7thSense developed products.
  • Maintain a technical file for each 7thSense product under your remit.
  • Create acceptance test procedures for outsourced developments.
  • Work with external suppliers to determine suitable testing solutions to ensure goods received by 7thSense are of the highest quality.
  • Manage component obsolescence, working closely with external suppliers.
  • Provide support to software developers, marketing and sales departments, systems engineers and other team members in the context of electronic development activity.
  • Great attention to detail and strives to achieve perfect results through well thought out actions and a structured approach to working.
  • Suggesting improvements based on your own experience and customer feedback is a natural part of this role also and is something we encourage as a business.
  • Be good at analysing results and making valid conclusions for consumption at all levels of the company.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or as part of a team as required.
  • You will be expected to work on a varied range of tasks as required to support the overall objectives of the department and team.
  • Comfortable working alone or as part of a small team, and there may be some limited travel involved to customer sites both in the UK and abroad. This will include assisting in tasks such as end-user training and sales and demo support.
Mandatory Technical Skills and Experience | The ‘Must-Have’s

Candidates must have experience of working in all the following areas:

  • University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 10 years electronic design & development experience
  • Engineering oversight and requirements capture for new designs
  • Experience of vendor management
  • A switched-on and enterprising individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work on your own initiative
  • Self-confident with good client and customer facing skills and the ability to effectively present technical information
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Driving Licence
Additional Useful Skills | The ‘Helpful to Haves’
  • Experience of formal product certification requirements, such as CE, FCC, EMC and CB
  • Experience of embedded microprocessor systems
  • Experience working with High Speed (32Gbit) Electronics
  • Knowledge of video products and systems
  • Knowledge of Xilinx FPGA devices, ideally Zynq Ultrascale+
  • Knowledge of software languages such as C/C++ and other design languages a plus
  • Demonstrate flexibility both in working hours and work activities
